A freind recently thought that she had the perfect gift for me–she wanted to run it by me first knowing how picky I can sometimes be. Her brilliant idea was a Kindall reader (or something along those same lines). In all reality, it should have been the perfect gift for me. I LOVE to read, it is one of my passions in life, it would make sense that I would enjoy a gift that would allow me to read wherever I go and have many different books in my posession all the time.
However, after consideration, I realized that I love BOOKS too much to give them up. I may be alone in this, but I love the smell of books, I love touching the pages as if to feel that I am a part of the story itself. I love collecting books and having a vast library to look at all of the stories that have contributed to my imagination. I love going back to see which stories I have read, which stories I have yet to read and which stories I wish to read again.
I agree that the electronic form of books is definitely more accessable, especially for those that travel often. It is probably also more economical for the environment in terms of paper usage. However, nothing can compare to owning real books, turning each page to the mystery of what it holds.
So for me, I will stick to the old way of reading. Good ole books! 🙂
I TOTALLY agree about the look, feel and smell of real books BUT I got a kindle for Christmas and I love it! I will never give up reading real books, but the kindle is wonderful – plus my puppy can’t eat the pages!
love you – Angie
I totaly agree.
If you want to read a book where the book itself really feel like part of the story, I sugget ‘Fabulouse Things’ by Kelly Bafferette.
Hey, great post. Great blog. It is fresh and to the point. I just read literally dozens of blogs, because I can’t sleep, and yours is by far the best quality. You know it is rare to find decent content on these things… Most of them are cheap and spammy.
