The written word is something that has been around since, well…forever, right? Well maybe not forever but people have been communicating with each other through some type of writing for centuries. Writing is used to exchange information, to convey a thought, to propose an idea, to record history and so much more. Most of the things that I love in life would not exist without the written word, especially books. I love getting lost into a complicated love story or letting out my inner Sherlock trying to figure out a mystery. There is something about people’s stories, where they are from, where they have been, who they are and what they do, that has always intrigued me. These stories whether based in fiction or a true account, communicate a common theme that can bring people together in shared interest.
It makes sense that the origin of the word communication comes from the Latin word communicare which means to share, directly relating it to the word community.
There is a community that comes with communication. Communication has the ability to bring people together who have never met and live thousands of miles away from each other. That’s why I love blogging. I can write something about my interests or my life and it can appeal to so many others. We can relate to each other though we have never met. We can share our common interests and inspire each other. We can discuss topics that we hold dear to our hearts and topics that we want attention drawn to. It draws people of all races, religions, backgrounds together with no judgement, only opinion and point of view.
So thank you to all of my other writers, bloggers and communicators out there. I truly appreciate what each of you have to say and enjoy reading the billions of stories there are! The written word (i hope) will never go away, and for that I am thankful. Because what kind of a world would this be if we all couldn’t talk about it? 🙂
